Independent Greeks to oppose gov’t presidential candidate

Independent Greeks chief Panos Kammenos on Thursday said the anti-bailout party would oppose any candidate proposed by the coalition government in next year’s presidential election.

Speaking at a press conference at the annual Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) on Thursday, Kammenos said the party was seeking elections.

“Any coalition deputies who have come to realize what they have voted for and have now decided to bring the government down, should do so tonight,” said Kammenos, in reference to a Parliamentary vote regarding amendments on the single property tax, ENFIA, which has raised complaints within coalition ranks.
