Terror group suspect is remanded in pre-trial custody at Korydallos
Antonis Stamboulos, the man arrested last week on suspicion of being a member of leftist guerrilla group Revolutionary Struggle and of planning an imminent terrorist attack, was transferred to Attica’s high-security Korydallos Prison on Monday.
Apart from terrorism charges, the 31-year-old is also accused of explosives possession, theft, forgery, resisting arrest and carrying a weapon.
He is said to have refused to provide a deposition until he is informed of the contents of the case file.
Stamboulos was arrested in the Athens neighborhood of Vyronas last Wednesday night as he tried to open a garage where officers found the roof rack of a car believed to have been used in a bombing outside the Bank of Greece last April.
Officers found in Stamboulos’s possession a notebook with a list of suspected targets including the offices of New Democracy as well as leading businessmen.
