Municipal workers hold work stoppage

POE-OTA, the union representing Greece’s municipal workers, has called for a work stoppage starting 11.30 a.m., across the country on Wednesday. A protest rally has been planned for noon outside the Ministry of Administrative Reform on Vas. Sofias Avenue.

Unionists are protesting the ministry’s attempt to review how civil servants on fixed-term contracts found themselves on open-ended deals in the past.

In a statement, POE-OTA said it would fight against “those who criminalize the unquestionable right to work.”
