Elderly woman found dead in makeshift storeroom
Police in Kalamata were investigating Monday after the body of an 85-year-old woman who had been reported missing in August was discovered on Sunday, wrapped in a bedsheet and placed in a makeshift storage area built under her home in the village of Mantinia, in Mani.
Police found the body during an investigation into the attempted suicide of her 58-year-old daughter who lived in the same house.
The daughter, who suffers from mental illness and who is currently recovering at a Kalamata hospital after taking an overdose of pills, had told the authorities that her mother was living in an asylum. Police searched their house after failing to reach the mother.
Medical experts were trying to establish the cause of the 85-year-old’s death.
