Gynecologist caught with 50-euro bribe in hand
The head of the gynecology department at Aghios Dimitrios Hospital in Thessaloniki has been arrested on suspicion of taking bribes.
Authorities revealed on Tuesday that a patient had filed a complaint against the 64-year-old doctor, prompting an investigation. She claimed the doctor demanded 50 euros in order to carry out a routine operation.
Members of the police’s internal affairs department arrested the doctor and found the marked 50-euro bill in his possession.
The suspect is due to face a prosecutor on Thursday.
