German arrested for espionage on Greek island of Kos
A 65-year-old German national who has been living on the eastern Aegean island of Kos for the past two years was arrested on Wednesday and faces espionage charges, a Greek Police announcement said on Thursday.
The 65-year-old was arrested by police who were alerted by a sentinel at a military guard post on the island after he spotted the German man taking photographs of the base from his car.
Police searched his vehicle and allegedly found a pair of binoculars and a rifle scope, as well as digital storage devices, a computer and a notebook with hand-written notes. A further search of his home also uncovered notes containing coordinates that correspond to military installations on the island, the police said.
