Parliament’s draft budget sees reduction of some 2 mln euros

Parliament’s budget for next year has been reduced by almost 2 million euros to 139.9 million, according to a draft unveiled on Monday.

Of the total amount, 20.5 million euros is for MPs’ pay.

Total lawmakers’ income is largely unchanged from this year’s budget, with only their bonuses being reduced by 200,000 euros.

Despite the overall reduction in next year’s budget, Parliament is planning to spend 1.7 million euros on “new printing equipment and bookbinding.”

Also, Parliament’s Vouli TV channel will have a budget of 800,000 euros to purchase the rights to documentaries to show next year.

MPs are due to vote on Parliament’s 2015 budget on Tuesday, with only the Communist Party expected to oppose the plan.
