Parties start announcing state lists, Lazaridis confirms he is not on ND’s
Political parties started announcing the candidates for their state lists on Monday as campaigning heats up ahead of snap polls on January 25.
Conservative New Democracy was expected to have its list headed either by a female candidate or by University of Athens rector Theodoros Fortsakis. Meanwhile prominent ND cadre Chrysanthos Lazaridis, who is a close aide to Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, told Mega television channel that he would not be a candidate though he would continue to actively support Samaras.
Centrist To Potami (The River) announced its list which is to be headed by Panagiotis Karkatsoulis who in 2012 was named the world’s best civil servant.
