Potami party leader describes situation in Greece as ‘critical’

Stavros Theodorakis, the leader of centrist Potami, has called for a meeting of party leaders amid concerns that the SYRIZA-coalition is heading for conflict with Greece’s eurozone partners.

“The situation is critical and we demand a national understanding,” Theodorakis said in a statement late on Friday.

The former journalist stressed that the leaders of the Communist Party and Golden Dawn should be excluded from any leaders’ meeting.

Theodorakis, whose party came fourth in the January 25 elections, accused SYRIZA of choosing to clash with the “eurozone and European institutions,” while expressing fears that Greece’s situation would go from “worrying to dangerous.”
