Judges indict 21 over Skouries gold mine attack
A council of misdemeanor court judges has issued an indictment for 21 suspects to stand trial in connection with an attack on a gold mine in Skouries, Halkidiki, in February 2013.
The suspects are to appear in the Thessaloniki criminal court on a string of charges including attempted manslaughter, explosives possession and setting up a criminal organization. The suspects have denied the charges leveled against them.
Meanwhile, mine developer Eldorado Gold said yesterday it had received a formal notice from the Environment Ministry to revoke the approval needed to complete construction work at the site.
“The decision by has no legal basis,” the company said.
