Greek foreign minister explores deepening of ties with China on Beijing visit

Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias discussed the deepening of Greece’s economic ties with China when he met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing on Wednesday.

“The formulation of a joint action plan for 2015-2017 and a series of proposals for cooperation in the sectors of the economy and investments, and culture and education,” were discussed during the meeting according to the Greek Foreign Ministry.

According to Xinhua news agency, Wang said Piraeus container port, run by Chinese giant COSCO, is “a paradigm of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Greece.”

Xinhua also said that Kotzias told Wang Greece is prepared to play a part in the construction of the China-Europe Land-Sea Express Line.

Kotzias is in China on a four-day trip with Deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Dragasakis.
