Putin: Athens, Moscow must work together to improve bilateral trade

Athens and Moscow must work together to improve bilateral trade between the two states, Russian President Vladimir Putin said as he welcomed Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in the Kremlin on Wednesday.

“Until recently, Russia was Greece’s main trading partner. As of last year, however, our commercial transactions have gone down by 40 percent,” Putin said.

In his comments, the Greek premier spoke of the need to reboot relations between the two countries. Strengthening ties between the two states will also benefit stability in the region, said Tsipras who is in Russia for a two-day visit.
