Xeros must not leave prison, US ambassador says

The US Ambassador to Greece David Pearce has once more criticized legislation that paves the way for November 17 terrorist Savvas Xeros to be released from prison early.

“[Xeros] should not set foot out of prison before his sentences are served,” Pearce tweeted in response to an excerpt from a TV interview of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on the issue which was posted by Financial Times journalist Peter Spiegel.

Xeros was convicted, among other things, of murdering with a car bomb in 1988 Captain William Nordeen, the US Defense and Naval Attaché to Greece, and killing US Air Force sergeant Ronald Stewart three years later.

Xeros, who is serving five life sentences, has a number of illnesses that include multiple sclerosis.
