Bride recovers from photo session injuries

A young bride from northern Greece who was struck down by a tree branch last month while posing for photographers after her wedding is free to enjoy a belated honeymoon after being discharged from hospital yesterday. Anastassia Stranga, 23, suffered severe chest and neck injuries as well as a broken leg in the freak accident in the Aghia Varvara park in the eastern Macedonian town of Drama on August 23, and was treated for several days in Thessaloniki’s Papageorgiou Hospital’s intensive-care unit before being moved into a regular ward. Stranga, the daughter of a Drama family that had migrated to Germany, had been posing with her husband, Anastassios Antoniadis, 25, under a tall elm popular with wedding photographers as a backdrop when they heard a loud crack. The groom managed to dodge, but, hampered by her long dress, Stranga was caught under the falling log.
