Cypriot soldiers in Russian tanks take part in Cyprus’s parade commemorating the 43rd anniversary of the island’s independence on the outskirts of Nicosia yesterday. President Tassos Papadopoulos said it was a celebratory parade and not a show of force, explaining why no warplanes took part. Also, no US-made arms were on display.
