Archaeologists…

Archaeologists and excavation workers clear away the earth yesterday from a large Roman building discovered under a main street in the town of Atalanti in Viotia, some 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of Athens. The remains of the ancient building emerged unexpectedly during work by the Atalanti municipality to build a new water and sewer network. Extensive traces of painted stucco have survived on the walls.
