Taxis await passengers…

Taxis await passengers at Athens airport yesterday morning. Hours later, there were none to be seen, as cabbies staged a three-hour strike from 6-9 p.m., ahead of today’s 24-hour strike starting at 5 a.m. The Athens taxi union objects to legislation obliging them to install receipt-issuing meters by January 1. Taxi drivers, who reneged on a previous deal with the government on the meters, also want access to Athens bus lanes.
