Officers stand under a Greek flag during a central Athens protest yesterday by police, fire brigade and coast guard unions demanding that their jobs be designated as hazardous. This would entitle them to better benefits and earlier retirement. Some 2,000 protesters marched without incident from Omonia Square to the Finance Ministry. A previous demonstration had been violently broken up by riot police.
