Dragasakis denies rift rumors
Greece’s deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Dragasakis on Wednesday rejected speculation of a split within the leftist-led government following reports he was unaware of a non-paper issued by Athens before his meeting with ECB chief Mario Draghi.
Several local media reported that the release of the non-paper – which suggested that differences between the IMF and the European Commission were obstructing progress on Greece – had undermined Dragasakis ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with Draghi in Frankfurt, where he appeared upbeat on the prospects of a deal.
In a message posted on his Facebook page Wednesday, Dragasakis denied reports as “fictional,” adding that efforts to create divisions within the government camp are an exercise in futility.
