Deputy premier stresses need for good ties between gov’t, SYRIZA

After a session of SYRIZA’s political secretariat on Thursday night that was said to be stormy, Deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Dragasakis on Friday highlighted the need for good ties between the government and the leftist party’s organs.

“At this critical phase of the negotiations, there is a need for a close and creative cooperation between the government and the organs [of SYRIZA] as well as the parliamentary group,” Dragasakis said in a posting on his Facebook account.

Responding to reports about rifts within the government and SYRIZA about how to proceed in negotiations and about the extent of concessions that should be made, Dragasakis said «the entire government decides and acts collectively with the goal of a positive outcome in negotiations,” adding that the government’s targets are “a venture with collective responsibility.”
