Son accused of setting father on fire in his sleep
An 89-year-old man was being treated at Thessaloniki’s Papanikolaou Hospital with serious burns on Wednesday after his 56-year-old son allegedly set him on fire in his sleep at their home in the village of Karyditsa, near the northern city of Kozani.
According to police, the son doused his father with a flammable liquid and set him alight while he was in bed.
Neighbors heard the elderly man’s cries and burst into the house, extinguishing the blaze.
