Police confirm two arrested, one dead in raid to catch bank robbery suspects

Police confirmed on Saturday that they have arrested two men in a raid to catch the men suspected of carrying out 400,000-euro robbery last year. A third man died during the operation near Volos, central Greece.

According to officers, Spyros Christodoulou (45) and Grigoris Tsironis (37) were arrested but Spyros Dravilas (34) committed suicide to prevent being caught.

Dravilas and Christodoulou were the main suspects behind the armed robbery at a branch of National Bank in Paralia Distomou, northwest of Athens. The robbers eventually made their getaway in a speedboat.

Tsironis, also wanted for armed robbery, was not named among the suspects for this particular bank heist.

Police recovered four handguns and three AK-47s from the house that they raided.
