Burnt recycling plant to undergo environmental tests

Energy Minister Panayiotis Lafazanis has instructed the Greek Institute of Geology and Mineral Exploration (IGME) to carry out a series of tests at the recycling center in Aspropyrgos, west of Athens, which was recently destroyed by a fire.

IGME is to take away 35 soil and water samples to establish the level of environmental damage done at the site, where regular rubbish is also believed to have been dumped.

The first results from this work are expected in around 20 days.
