Tsipras to resign, paving way for snap elections
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced in a televised address on Thursday night that he will resign immediately, paving the way for snap elections.
Tsipras is due to hand his resignation to President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, who will then initiate a process that will lead to the early polls. The ballot is expected to take place on September 20.
