Police confirm attack on Popular Unity’s e-mail

Police have confirmed that allegations by Popular Unity, the new leftist party formed last week, that its e-mail was hacked are true.

The grouping, created by rebel SYRIZA MPs, said over the weekend that hackers had rendered the e-mail of the new party’s press office inactive.

The claims were investigated by experts from the cyber crimes squad, who found that hackers had managed to access a Yahoo e-mail address that the party set up and to delete messages in the account.

The party claimed the incident was evidence of “continuous efforts to muzzle the anti-memorandum forces at such a crucial time for the country” and confirmed “how fearful the political and economic establishment is of Popular Unity’s momentum and interventions.”
