Mother of slain rapper verbally attacks son’s killer in court

Magda Fyssa, the mother of Pavlos Fyssas, the 34-year-old hip-hop artist stabbed to death in September 2013, verbally attacked her son’s alleged killer, Giorgos Roupakias, in the trial against ultranationalist party Golden Dawn on Friday.

“I will not die until I hang him,” said Fyssas, during a court break on Friday, before hurling a bottle of water at Roupakias, a Golden Dawn supporter.

Earlier in the day, the prosecution team referred to a radio interview by Golden Dawn chief Nikos Michaloliakos in which he said the neo-Nazi party accepted political responsibility for the murder. Michaloliakos is facing criminal charges in the trial.

His attorney, Takis Michalolias, said the interview would be presented in court in order to prove that his client’s comments had been twisted.
