Strike to disrupt fixed-track public transport on Sunday

Fixed-track public transport is expected to be disrupted on Sunday due to a 24-hour strike by employees of the Athens metro, tram and Kifissia-Piraeus electric railway (ISAP) services.

The employees are to walk off the job to participate in the general assembly of STASY, the fixed track operator. Unionists representing the workers object to a fresh round of cuts to employees' salaries as well as impending changes to the social security system.

The action will come just a few days after transport workers walked off the job as part of a general strike called by the country's two main labor unions.
