Explosives expert killed in northern Greece mine

A 52-year-old explosives expert was killed early on Monday in accident at the Mavres Petres mine in Halkidiki, northern Greece, authorities said.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.

Hellas Gold, which operates the mine, said the man had extensive experience in his field, stretching back 20 years.

The company and authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
