Court to deliver verdict on soccer supporter’s death

A court on Crete is expected this week to issue its verdict on the death of a soccer supporter on the island during a second division match last year.

Costas Katsoulis, a supporter of Ethnikos Piraeus, died after collapsing at a game with Cretan side Irodotos.

He, and other supporters of the visiting team, had been attacked by local hooligans.

The prosecutor recommended that two suspects, a 34-year-old and a 26-year-old, be convicted for Katsoulis’s death. The court may deliver its decision as early as Wednesday.
