Tsipras upbeat in Easter Sunday message

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, whose government faces a tense few days of negotiations ahead before an extraordinary Eurogroup on May 9, insisted on Sunday that Greece is on its way out of its long economic crisis.
“We are leaving the hard times behind and looking ahead with optimism to a better future for Greece and its people,” said Tsipras during a visit to the Greek Navy frigate Adrias on Easter Sunday.
Tsipras, who was accompanied by Defense Minister Panos Kammenos during his visit, also defended Greece’s approach to the refugee crisis.
“We supported solidarity and humanitarianism during a period when Europe, which is the birthplace of these ideas, appears to be forgetting them.”
