ADEDY plans Sunday protest rally for multi-bill vote
Civil servants’ union ADEDY called on its members on Wednesday to gather for a protest in front of Parliament on Sunday, when MPs are due to vote on the remaining measures Greece needs to pass to complete its bailout review.
The multi-bill is set to include provisions for the creation of a fiscal brake that would lead to spending cuts if Greece’s budget veers off track.
The country’s lenders insist that pensions and public sector wages should not be excluded from cuts if the mechanism is triggered.
ADEDY said that it wants to prevent this measure passing, as well as the 1.8 billion euros in fiscal measures that will mostly be made up of increases in indirect taxes.
