Putin to visit Greece on May 27-28, says Kremlin
The Kremlin has confirmed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intention to visit Greece later this week.
Putin is due to hold talks with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and President Prokopis Pavlopoulos during his trip on Friday and Saturday, May 27 and 28.
Putin’s office said that talks would “focus on key aspects of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, including joint projects in the energy and transport sectors.”
“There will also be an exchange of views on current international and regional issues,” added the Kremlin. “The visit is to conclude with the signing of a number of bilateral agreements.”
The two countries aimed to improve their relations this year by launching the reciprocal Year of Greece and Year of Russia, which include a series of cultural events.
The Russian Orthodox Partriarch of Moscow, Kirill, also announced that he plans to visit Mount Athos between May 27 and 29. Moscow is marking 1,000 years of Russian presence on the holy mountain.
