Policeman charged with forging documents to secure job

A prosecutor has recommended that a 50-year-old man stand trial on charges he used forged documents to secure a job with the Greek police force some 16 years ago.

According to his case file, the man, who confessed to the crime, rose through the ranks of the police to become a sergeant in 2015, receiving a total income of 293,000 euros during his time with the force.

The scam was uncovered during an internal police investigation.
