Former German minister denies insulting Greek photographer

Former German transport minister Peter Ramsauer has denied allegations that he insulted a photographer during a visit of German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel in Athens on Thursday.

Initial reports said that Ramsauer, a member of the German delegation accompanying Gabriel, told the photographer, after the latter accidentally bumped into him, “don’t touch me you filthy Greek.”

According to German media, Ramsauer took to his Facebook page to refute the claims and argued that he was hit in the ribs by the photographer who was being pushed by his colleagues.

Reports said Ramsauer’s Facebook page was inundated by comments written in Greek and was out of use for several hours over the weekend.
