Cargo ship clips sailboat off Peloponnese; no one injured
A sailboat carrying two foreign nationals on board had to be towed to the marina of Kalamata in the southern Peloponnese on Tuesday after being clipped by a cargo ship.
The sailboat started taking on water after the accident, which took place about 12 nautical miles from the seaside town of Pylos. Dozens of fishermen and coast guard officers in the area rushed to help the distressed pleasure craft, towing it to safety.
Neither of the two passengers suffered any injuries but they told authorities that the cargo ship did not stop after clipping their boat.
