No Border Camp participants target Thessaloniki City Hall

A group of 150 anarchists taking part in the unauthorized, pro-refugee No Border Camp at the Aristotle University reportedly attacked a building housing the Thessaloniki City Hall on Thursday.

According to initial accounts, the perpetrators, who targeted the premises of the EU’s Europe Direct Thessaloniki branch as well as the municipality’s administrative offices, caused damage to equipment, threw paint and sprayed slogans, such as “No Border, Open the borders, blood on your hands,” across walls.

Following the attack, Thessaloniki City Hall authorities called an emergency meeting on Thursday afternoon.

Police said that no arrests were made at the time of the incident. According to authorities, the group of 150 was heading to Idomeni.
