Municipal police force records strong activity cuts

The municipal police force of Athens recorded 259,000 violations, chiefly parking transgressions, in the first six months of this year despite operating with a third of the personnel that it had three years ago, according to figures released Wednesday.

The 259,000 violations were recorded during a period when the municipal police force numbered 390 people, compared with 231,000 violations in the same period in 2012 and 321,000 over the same period in 2013, when the force numbered 1,134 staff.
