G. Michalakopoulos
I expect increased funding, art education, an end to lobbying by insiders, the absence of kitsch, and the rule of moderation. I expect a minister who knows the subject, is well bred and not full of himself. I expect colleagues in planning cultural policy who care about culture and not about the minister’s profile and clientele. I have the feeling I’ll be waiting for the rest of my life! But I’m optimistic and I fight alongside people in the world of culture who know that the pathway of creation is a lonely one. In short, I expect them to leave us alone. It would certainly be better; after all, loneliness is culture. We are the necessary damned. We are society’s alibi. Giorgos Michalakopoulos is an actor.
