Traffic restrictions around Greece this weekend
Motorists driving in Athens on Friday should bear in mind that many roads around the capital will be closed to traffic as schools hold their annual Ochi Day parades, commemorating Greece’s entry into the Second World War in 1940.
There will also be traffic restrictions over the long weekend, when many Greeks are expected to return to their villages or take a short vacation on the islands.
Parts of the national road network that will be affected include the section of the Athens-Patra highway between the Elefsina and Rio toll gates, the sections of the Athens-Thessaloniki national highway near the exits for Aghios Stefanos, Lamia and Larissa, the sections of road between Thessaloniki and Nea Moudania and between Thessaloniki and Kavala will also see traffic diverted over the weekend.
