Greek deputy minister sparks furor with island comment

Greece’s controversial Deputy Education Minister Constantinos Zouraris caused a firestorm on Wednesday after saying in passing at a press conference that it was “no big deal if Greece loses some islands,” in reference to Turkey’s recent claims to a string of islets in the eastern Aegean.
New Democracy issued a statement calling on the goverment to bring the minister “into line,” while PASOK wondered if the coalition’s “chosen one” had lost his mind.
