Pappas: ‘ND has blood ties with Schaeuble’s party’
Α senior official of Greece’s left-led government on Monday criticized New Democracy opposition over its stance on a recent decision to give pensioners a one-off Christmas bonus.
The plan has triggered reactions from the country’s foreign creditors, particularly Germany.
In comments made to Antenna TV on Monday, Nikos Pappas, who is Minister for Digital Policy and a close aid to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, attacked the conservative opposition saying that it served the agenda of German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble in Greece.
“New Democracy has blood ties with Schaeuble’s party,” Pappas said.
In the same interview, Pappas ruled out an early election, rebuffing calls for a snap poll by ND chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis as “fantasy.”
