Riot police come under attack in Exarchia

Self-styled anarchists launched successive attacks with firebombs against a riot police unit stationed at the intersection of Patision and Tositsa Streets in the Exarchia district of Athens, authorities said on Sunday.

The attacks, which occurred at 11.20 p.m. and 11.45 p.m. late Saturday night and just after midnight at 12.25 a.m., led to the brief closure to traffic of Patision Street.

Another riot police unit located on Harilaou Trikoupi Street was targeted with firebombs at 1.30 a.m. 

Police detained 16 people. There were no reports of injuries.
