An elderly couple…

An elderly couple on Corfu stand at their window in the island capital’s old town on Saturday morning, waiting for the church bell to sound before throwing two water-filled earthenware pots onto the cobbled street below in accordance with an old Corfiot Easter tradition. The custom dates to medieval times, and heralds the slaughter of lambs ahead of Easter Sunday’s feast.
