New appointments

Another 9,477 personnel – mostly nursing staff – will have been hired by the end of 2005 in order to fill permanent positions in the national health system, if the health minister’s petition to the Economy Ministry is approved. Some 1,326 new staff have already been hired for the hospitals’ special units such as intensive care. Moreover, the ministry has asked for 980 more personnel, seasonal staff, to be approved in order to meet the needs of the Olympic Games. By the end of May, 299 new ambulance staff will have been hired through state examinations. The hiring of 200 part-time EKAB workers is still pending, since the necessary funds have not been found.
