Police probe family tragedy involving woman, daughter
Police in Markopoulos, northeast of Athens, were investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of a woman and her daughter after the former locked her husband in the basement of their home.
The man told police that he heard his daughter and her mother arguing, and then screaming, after his wife locked him in the basement on Saturday. After managing to emerge from the basement, he found the two women dead, with a bloody knife nearby.
According to sources, police believe the woman stabbed her daughter before killing herself. A coroner’s report was expected to shed further light on the tragedy.
