Athens mayor welcomes Skopje counterpart for talks

Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis on Friday welcomed his counterpart from Skopje Petre Silegov for talks at City Hall.

The visit comes as diplomats from Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) are engaged in United Nations-mediated negotiations aimed at resolving a 25-year-old dispute over the latter's name.

In a joint article published on Thursday in Ta Nea and FYROM's Sloboden Pecat, the mayors of the two capitals expressed their support for the efforts currently underway to find a solution to "a dispute which has divided the two countries for decades."
