Another three ministers – one current, two former – requested rent subsidies, Skai reports

Another three members of the SYRIZA-led government requested state rent subsidies, Skai has reported following the resignation of Alternate Social Solidarity Minister Rania Antonopoulou in a benefit row and that of her husband, Economy Minister Dimitris Papadimitriou.

Antonopoulou left the government on Monday following revelations that she received 23,000 euros in rent subsidies for an apartment in the upscale Athens neighborhood of Kolonaki.

Papadimitriou's resignation followed a few hours later.

According to documents seen by Skai, alternate education minister for research, Constantinos Fotakis, former alternate foreign minister Dimitris Mardas and former deputy minister for infrastructure Panagiotis Sgouridis also applied for the subsidy.

A sum of 5,000 euros was approved for Fotakis and 7,000 euros for Sgouridis, Skai understands.

Reacting to the reports, Fotakis told Skai that the money migt have been credited to his account but that he never spent it.

Sgouridis, for his part, said he received 350 euros.
