Thessaloniki police probes vandalism of Jewish monument

The department on racist violence of Thessaloniki's Security Division opened on Wednesday an investigation into the desecration of a Jewish monument erected inside the campus of the city's Aristotle University (AUT).

The monument, which commemorates a Jewish cemetery destroyed by the Nazis in 1942, was targeted by vandals on Tuesday, the second time in two weeks.

The perpetrators daubed blue paint and painted a cross on the monument.
