NICOSIA (AFP) – A 17-year-old Cypriot landed himself in hot water yesterday after trying to buy sexual services from a prostitute with two counterfeit 20 Cyprus pound notes (34 euros) he designed on his home computer, police said. The illicit transaction failed when the eagle-eyed prostitute became suspicious about the currency offered to her. «The prostitute realized the money was fake and called the police, who arrived on the scene in Nicosia and called the 17-year-old in for questioning,» a police statement said. During questioning, the resourceful teenager made a voluntary statement admitting that he had forged the notes on his home computer with the aim of buying sex with a prostitute. But the hapless Cypriot now faces serious charges of manufacturing and distributing forged pound notes and attempting to secure services under false pretenses.
