Hussam Azzam…

Hussam Azzam, a Palestinian who lives in a refugee camp in the impoverished Gaza Strip, trains for the discus event in the Athens Paralympics. He is a top contender in the discus and shot put events in the Games that begin on Sept. 17. ‘I am paralyzed, but my brain is still functioning. My determination is stronger than my illness,’ Azzam, who was stricken by polio as a child, told The Associated Press. He won bronze in the shot put event in 2000.
